We were lucky enough to spend a week at Bouchon Haut this August and if you are looking for a place where you can totally disconnect and enjoy utter peace and tranquillity, then this is the perfect holiday retreat.  After a very straightforward drive from Toulouse through the most stunning French countryside, it was wonderful to walk into a cool and beautifully clean house and to have milk, wine and fresh bread waiting for us on the kitchen table.  The kitchen is very well equipped with every mod con you could possibly need including an American-sized fridge freezer, and every parent always breathes a huge sigh of relief when they see a washing machine/tumble dryer and a functioning Wi-Fi box!  All the rooms had their own unique character and style and have been tastefully decorated with lovely antique beds, wardrobes and substantial antique chest of drawers.  All the bathrooms are modern with good, spacious showers and plenty of storage and we all especially loved the big white fluffy towels! Particular highlights for me were the outdoor patio area at the back of house where you can eat ‘al fresco’ and enjoy stunning sunsets with a G&T in hand, as well as opening the shutters of the house in the mornings and not being able to hear a single car or any other type of intrusive noise from the modern world!  There was plenty in the house and garden to keep my two demanding teens amused for a week: a well-stocked DVD collection, a great selection of TV channels from home, a trampoline in the garden, swimming pool, bikes, table tennis, gym and a study area.  Despite its rural, tranquil setting, the nearest supermarket is only a 10 minute drive away and has everything you could possibly need.  There are also lots of options for days out with plenty of small towns, markets and chateaux to explore – although not all of the chateaux were open to the public – so definitely worth double checking opening times before setting off.   My 15 year old daughter has now fallen in love with Bouchon Haut and has decided it’s the only place she wants to revise for her GCSEs next summer, so we will most definitely be back!

Une maison dans un site naturel extrêmement agréable. Calme et nature au plein cœur d’une région pleine d’atouts et de possibilités de visites. Excellente expérience.

“We had a really lovely time. Both properties are beautiful and we loved the area and all the local produce.
You have done a really great job with the place and the pool is spectacular.”

“This place is absolutely amazing and I never wanted to leave. From the moment you drive down the sweeping driveway and see Bouchon’s caramel stone walls nestline in the stunning view you know you are somewhere very special.

The place is huge and has been decorated with impeccable taste and style. There are spaces everywhere for the whole family to relax and enjoy. Many of the windows give you a treat of that amazing view across the countryside. Property is luxurious, clean and comfortable, with particularly good showers!
The pool is huge, immaculately clean and well provided for in terms of furniture. The garden is enormous and lovely. But my favourite place was the terrace, where watching the sunset with a glass of delicious local wine felt like heaven.
To summarise, this place is heaven and faultless and I can’t wait to return.”

“Idyllic retreat. We were lucky enough to stay as part of a large family group at Bouchon Bas and Bouchon Haut during the summer. What a treat!

Surrounded by beautiful sunflower fields, Bouchon is sufficiently remote that you feel you have escaped from the real world but close enough to amazing attractions, sights and food markets for when you feel like seeing people.

We stayed in Bouchon Bas and were really impressed – the living area in particular is stunning. The kitchen is well equipped with all modern conveniences yet maintains a rustic appeal. The master bedroom is beautifully furnished (we loved the claw foot bath in the ensuite) and the kids were delighted with their rooms.

We had family members stay in Bouchon Haut and it is also a truly stunning property. The lovely patio area with amazing views provided a great setting for family meals.

We had small children in the group (youngest 4) and they had endless hours of fun roaming the beautiful grounds. As it was sunny most of their time was spent in the pool which is very secure and safe for children with the pool alarm.

All in all everything had been thought of to make our stay a comfortable one and we will definitely be returning. We would love to see Bouchon in a different season as I’m sure it would be beautiful all year round.”

“Lovely mellow stone buildings, a beautifully kept garden full of lavender and bees and a swimming pool in fields of sunflowers. Perfect for two families as you share this generous space. Shops, restaurants and castles are all a drive away through a painterly landscape. We loved it. “

“There are not enough superlatives to describe Bouchon Haut. Approached by a long, winding drive, through fields of wheat and sunflowers, Bouchon Haut is surrounded by beautiful gardens filled with lavender. The house is exquisite, the character of the stunning stone building, has been perfectly enhanced by an enticing mixture of antique furniture, sumptuous fabrics and state of the art technology. If you want to stay in a beautiful tranquil location, in a gorgeous property with exquisite interiors, a terrace to die for and a fabulous pool, you would be mad to miss a stay at beautiful Bouchon. “

“Thank you for a wonderful stay at your very special home. We were delighted by how quiet it was, the ample outside space and of course the magnificent views of the countryside. The house was extremely comfortable; you have thought of everything, giving it the feel of a home-from-home, rather than a holiday let. Really, we couldn’t fault it and will look to return, hopefully next summer.”
